Welcome to TJ'S Miniature Schnauzers. We hope you enjoy our site and our Schnauzers. We have different dog songs on each of our pages we hope you enjoy them. We have eighteen Miniature Schnauzers. We live on 5 acres of land and our dogs have a half acre of land for a back yard. Our house and yard is surround with pecan, live oak and maple trees. They have lots of shade to relax in. They enjoy the squirrels too.
When I started raising Miniature Schnauzers in 1983. I never knew but three colors existed until we had our first litter with our blacks we have now. That is when I started researching the Miniature Schnauzer Ancestry. I have read several books and in "The Complete Miniature Schnauzer" written by Anne Eskiggre, and in the book "The Miniature Schnauzer" written by Jeannette Stark they talk about many other colors besides the blacks, salt and peppers, and the black and silvers. Below is my description of Miniature Schnauzers.
“Distinctive” is the word that most accurately describes the Miniature Schnauzer. He is very affectionate without being overbearingly gushy; highly intelligent with some degree of independence; extremely curious but not destructive; elegant in appearance without being froufrou; highly protective yet underwhelming in size; and equipped with the bonus of all bonuses, a nonshedding coat with no trace of a doggy odor.
The Miniature Schnauzer is equally comfortable in a small city apartment, a manored estate or a country farm, and thrives as easily in a house overflowing with children as in one with a single owner. Miniature Schnauzers are delighted to be the love of your life, but also enjoy sharing your affection with a cat or another dog. The standard ideal temperament of a Miniature Schnauzer is to be alert, spirited, obedient, friendly, intelligent dog with a willingness to please. Simply put, the Miniature Schnauzer is a fits-all pet for the discerning.
The Miniature Schnauzer, developed as a stable or farm dog, was used as a ratter and guard dog, though not a fighter. Because of its small size, the Miniature Schnauzer was invited to join the family as a companion. If your Miniature Schnauzer displays heightened pleasure chasing rabbits or squirrels or adamantly stands her ground against an intrusion with a biteless bark, she/he is not being nonsensical; rather she/he is yielding to their natural instincts as a ratter and guardian.
Contrary to belief the Miniature Schnauzers are not only in the colors of black, salt and pepper, or black and silver. The Miniature Schnauzer is reported to have been established as early as 1859, and in 1889 the Miniature Schnauzer was introduced as an exhibited breed at German shows. The early specimens had little resemblance to the breeds appearance today. The early colors ranged from black, yellow and cream, to black and tan. The occasional salt and pepper coat emerged later. The tan colored Schnauzers you see today are classified by the AKC as a liver color. The yellow and cream colored Schnauzers once they are groomed actually have a silver coat. The only colors that can be show dogs are the blacks, black and silver, and the salt and peppers. This does not make the other colors not as adorable, and affectionate. If you desire to have a quality pet any color of the breed will be as outstanding of a pet as the next.
We have the common colors Black, Black and Silver, Salt and Pepper, and we also have some rare colors Liver and Parti's. All of our common colors have champion bloodline in their 5 to 8 generation backgrounds. We specialize in breeding and selling pet-quality and show quality Miniature Schnauzer puppies. Our puppies are well socialized with other dogs and people. They are handled and pampered from birth. Stud service will be considered upon approval of your dam.
